Yelp Business Review Prediction

An NLP project that predicts user ratings based on comments using models namely DistilBERT, XGBoost, MultinomialNB, random forest, SVM, and Logistic Regression. Achieved model accuracy 11% higher than baseline. Also conducted sentiment analysis and topic summarization.

LendingClub Default Prediction

A credit scoring model that predicts loan default rates with a 3-layered feed-forward neural network model for LendingClub. Optimized the model with stochastic gradient descent and achieved an accuracy of 90%. Implemented EarlyStopping and Dropout to avoid overfitting; added batch normalization for data scaling, and tested the model with 500 epochs with different batch sizes to improve performance.

A rental application that allows customers to reserve cars and make rentals. It also enables clerks to record rentals and returns and generate reports for daily branch rentals and returns.

Smart Course Scheduler

Smart Course Scheduler generates course schedules. Users only need to type in the courses they are planning to take in the upcoming school years. This application would scrape relevant information including the courses' required activities, sections, and class time from UBC's course registration website. All valid course schedules that do not have time conflicts would be generated in timetable format.

Technologies used in this project: Java, HTML, Jsoup, Junit testing, Constraint Networks

UBC Campus Explorer

A web-based application that allows users to perform queries about courses and rooms. Students can filter courses based on a variety of features such as year, course average, title, etc. Users can also customize query results by adding group-by, ordering, and transformation clauses. Similar features apply to the rooms.
